WordPress 2.5.1 released

About a month ago, Wordpress.org released their latest version, 2.5 which introduced a number of enhancements as well as a complete re-design of the familiar Wordpress dashboard.

I did not advocate folks to upgrade as most major releases would have a number of bugs and security holes.

Over the weekend (2 days ago), WordPress announced the availability of ver 2.5.1

quote:

“Wordpress ver 2.5.1 is now available. It includes a number of bug fixes, performance enhancements, and one very important security fix. We recommend everyone update immediately, particularly if your blog has open registration. The vulnerability is not public but it will be shortly. In addition to the security fix, 2.5.1 contains many bug fixes.”

So, if you’re using Wordpress 2.5, please upgrade now.

If you’re thinking of upgrading from version 2.3.3 to 2.5.1, you may now do so … although personally, I would wait for a couple more releases for I would consider the 2.5.x branch.

If something ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

Cheers,

  1. Great tip Adrian. I was planning to wait anyways. I stongly advise others to do the same. Use the stable software you have for an extra 1-3 months whenever possible, the publishers almost always release a patch or bug fix and then you sometimes need to re-install again. Who has the time?
