ClickBank IPN – the Dust Finally Settles

Around 18th of Oct 2010, ClickBank made some changes in their Affiliate Stats reporting, i.e. the first name, last name and the email of the customer was replaced with double dashes, i.e. – –

This change came about because in an internal audit, ClickBank discovered that by revealing customer data (name and email) to affiliates, they are violating their privacy policy and not PCI compliant.

(PCI is the “rules” that all merchants have to follow to process credit cards)

As a result, a number of ClickBank Affiliate scripts that rely on IPN data were broken. CBListAutomator was one of them.

But I’m happy to report that a fix and a workaround has been found and CBListAutomator is as good as new, if not better.

On another note, I just noticed that ClickBank has introduced a newer IPN version 2.1 (version 2.0 was released sometime in late September).

At first glance, there is no visible difference in terms of the data returned, but I’ll keep you guys updated if/when I get more info.

*note: EasyClickGuard is now fully compatible with IPN version 2.x. You can choose either version, but make sure the version you select in your ClickBank account matches the version you select in the easyClickGuard’s admin panel.
